SUMMARY:Upcoming ARCS Pittsburgh Events
DESCRIPTION:We have an array of events each year that enable o
 ur members (and their guests) to feel connected to
  the innovations occurring in our region in areas 
 of science\, medical research\, engineering and te
 chnology. \n \n \n 	We have four or more educatio
 nal/behind the scenes programs each year for membe
 rs and guests including tours with receptions. For
  example\, past event programming included tours a
 t Magee Women’s Research Institute\, the McGowan
  Institute for Regenerative Medicine\, the recentl
 y opened Vision Institute\, Google\, PPG’s Globa
 l Research Center\, and many others.  These event
 s may also be gatherings where one of our many glo
 bally known researchers at the University of Pitts
 burgh\, Carnegie Mellon University or in local ind
 ustries update us on the cutting-edge discoveries 
 that are happening in fields as diverse as vision 
 restoration\, cures for Type 1 diabetes\, or Artif
 icial Intelligence. \n 	Monthly\, our National Fo
 undation hosts one hour Zoom meetings\, ARCS Forwa
 rd\, featuring scholars across the United States w
 ho are working in various fields such as T-Cell re
 search\, Artificial Intelligence\, and prenatal ca
 re of at-risk mothers. \n 	Yearly\, In the fall\,
  we have a Donor Appreciation Event where all thos
 e present can meet the new scholars and reacquaint
  themselves with our returning scholars from both 
 institutions.  In the spring\, we have a Scholar 
 Showcase event where we learn yet more about their
  research areas and are inspired by the multi-tale
 nts of all our 3rd year scholars.  The University
  of Pittsburgh and Carnegie Mellon University rota
 te hosting duties between these two events.\n 	Fin
 ally\, our members host casual social events in th
 eir homes at various times during the year as oppo
 rtunities for prospective members to get to know o
 ur organization and meet several scholars who desc
 ribe their area of research. \n
